About the Role

The Vice President, Communications serves as the chief strategist and leader for all internal and external communications for the Colorado Rapids Soccer Club. This role is responsible for developing and executing communication strategies to enhance the club's brand, reputation, and engagement with fans, media, partners, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Communication Strategies: Create and execute comprehensive communication plans aligned with the club's business objectives and brand identity.
  • Media Relations: Manage all aspects of media relations, including cultivating relationships with local, national, and international media to generate positive coverage of the club.
  • Spokesperson: Serve as the primary spokesperson for the club, effectively communicating key messages to the media, fans, sponsors, and other stakeholders.
  • Brand Reputation Management: Manage and protect the club's brand reputation, ensuring consistent messaging and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Press Releases and Statements: Oversee the creation and dissemination of press releases, statements, and other written materials to ensure consistent and accurate messaging.
  • Crisis Communication: Manage crisis communication strategies and serve as the point of contact for media inquiries.
  • Internal Communications: Develop and implement effective internal communications strategies to keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with the club's vision, mission, and values.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a high-performing communications team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of experience in communications, with a proven track record of success in a leadership role, preferably within the soccer industry.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages to various audiences. Strong media relations skills and demonstrated ability to generate positive media coverage.
Benefits
  • Base Salary: $130,000.00 per annum
