Role Summary:

The cloudOS systems software division is seeking a dynamic and proactive manager to enhance our team. In this capacity, you will have the chance to influence technology and product innovation for Apple's server infrastructure and private cloud computing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

This role encompasses leading initiatives within our team as well as broader collaborative projects. As a manager, you will significantly contribute to the evolution of Apple's server offerings by engaging in a highly collaborative and rapidly evolving environment to incorporate new technologies into our frameworks.

Your involvement will span all phases of the Apple product development lifecycle, from initial concept through to production, ensuring both individual product features and comprehensive system validation efforts are effectively executed.

You will collaborate with exceptional teams across various locations who share a deep passion for engineering and delivering features that uphold strong privacy and security standards for users.

Your team and partners will cover a wide spectrum, from foundational operating systems to OS services, data center functionalities, network protocols, and APIs.

As a leader, you will guide a specialized team within this spectrum, tasked with delivering high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines while fostering close cross-functional collaboration across various disciplines.


Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, results-oriented, and possess a personal investment in the products and services we oversee. You should be adept at managing multiple priorities and navigating uncertainty.

Exceptional communication skills are essential, along with the ability to cultivate positive relationships with engineers on your team and across partner teams.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of demonstrated excellence in systems software development or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience leading a development team
  • Proficiency in C, C++, Objective-C, or Swift
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with secure and privacy-focused designs
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Passion for product ownership with a proven track record in product development
  • Able to coordinate efforts across multiple teams
  • Experience in building operating systems, kernels, drivers, daemons, and frameworks
  • Knowledge of designing, implementing, and managing large-scale distributed systems and networking protocols
  • Familiarity with Networking Protocols, Security, Privacy, and Cryptography (e.g., TLS, cryptographic chain of trust, data encryption at rest, Key Transparency, end-to-end encryption)
Compensation & Benefits:

At Apple, base salary is one component of our comprehensive compensation package, determined within a specified range. This allows for growth as you develop within your role.

The base salary range for this position is between $181,000 and $313,000, contingent upon your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Employees may be eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
