As a Systems Software Engineer, you will engage in a diverse array of projects, responsibilities, and tasks. Your role will be pivotal in assisting us to deliver services that provide value to a broad spectrum of public and private sector clients, ensuring timely and budget-conscious execution while maintaining profitability for the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain code to support bespoke applications and data analysis initiatives.
  • Document, optimize, troubleshoot, and provide support for existing data systems, applications, and code repositories.
  • Oversee database design, maintenance, development, and documentation.
  • Integrate and manage new technologies for data processing, visualization, and presentation.
  • Adhere to Shannon & Wilson's Quality Assurance protocols.
  • Promote and comply with health, safety, and loss prevention policies and procedures.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • 1 to 5 years of experience in a Computer Science role.
  • Proficiency in Python (experience with libraries such as numpy, scipy, and pandas is advantageous).
  • Familiarity with Visual Basic, SQL, C#, and/or Microsoft Power Platform is a plus.
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, Django, and/or Bootstrap is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of database management (MS SQL required; Azure Cosmos DB is a plus).
  • Experience utilizing GitHub for collaborative coding and publishing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with .NET and/or ESRI GIS is advantageous.
  • Understanding of geotechnical engineering principles is a plus.
  • Exceptional writing, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor with flexibility and approachability.
  • Ability to work independently with appropriate supervision.
  • Willingness to travel to support the needs of other Shannon & Wilson offices.

Typically, based on an applicant's education, experience, and qualifications, a Systems Software Engineer may be classified at a Shannon & Wilson Professional I, II, III, or IV level.

  • Professional I salary range: $67,000 - $75,000
  • Professional II salary range: $70,000 - $85,000
  • Professional III salary range: $80,000 - $95,000
  • Professional IV salary range: $90,000 - $105,000
