Job Summary

The Medical Office Technician is a vital member of the patient care team at Lexington Medical Center. As a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA), you will provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a Provider. Your responsibilities will include patient support, documentation, vaccine and medication administration, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with appointment scheduling and maintain medical record documentation in the EPIC EHR system.
  • Provide patient support as directed, including patient intake, documentation, and clerical tasks.
  • Administer vaccines and medications as directed by the Provider.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Restock supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Identify product needs and report to the appropriate person.
  • Participate in activities related to patient care, including recording patient data and observations.
  • Recognize the need for safety measures and take appropriate action to prevent injury.
  • Provide a comfortable environment of care in accordance with office standards.
  • Prepare patients for departure by reinforcing patient instructions and patient education.
  • Manage medications according to LMC policy, procedures, and within the scope of practice for the credential.
  • Enter pertinent information into Epic.
  • Verify that all information in the patient chart is correctly entered and associated, and initiate appropriate action when necessary.
  • Schedule physician appointments, request copies of the medical record, and arrange for patient referral as requested.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and effective use of medical terminology.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • None years of experience.
  • Must currently hold and maintain an active certification or registry in Medical Assisting.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification (BLS) or must obtain within 90 days of hire date.
  • The following must be successfully completed within the initial probationary period or any extension thereof:
    • LMC's Medical Assistant Training program.
    • An LMC approved Medication Administration training course.
    • The basic LMC competency assessment for MOTs.
