Overview

The Test Engineer is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the testing team, ensuring adherence to company standards, industry regulations, and client specifications. This role involves active participation in the planning and procurement of testing equipment, as well as the development and refinement of testing protocols. The Test Engineer also provides essential technical support to engineering, manufacturing, sales teams, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Monitor production schedules and create employee work plans for the Test department to guarantee timely completion of product evaluations.
  2. Collaborate with the Director of Quality Assurance and Supply Chain Management to enhance workplace safety through effective engineering controls and training focused on employee and visitor safety.
  3. Ensure that testing equipment is maintained in optimal condition.
  4. Coordinate preventive maintenance efforts to reduce downtime caused by unexpected equipment failures.
  5. Stay informed about advancements in technology and current industry testing standards (e.g., IEEE).
  6. Propose enhancements and upgrades to testing equipment to maintain compliance with industry standards.
  7. Adhere to the Quality Assurance program, leading or assisting in Root Cause Analysis of failures and implementing corrective actions.
  8. Promptly investigate and resolve issues related to testing equipment, recognizing the critical nature of minimizing downtime in production.
  9. Assist in developing alternative methodologies and procedures to address challenges and adapt to evolving market demands.
  10. Support conflict resolution processes with clients as needed.
  11. Ensure measurement accuracy through the implementation and upkeep of a robust equipment calibration program.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Duties

  1. Assist team members with project-based tasks.
  2. Consistently adhere to safety protocols in line with company Environmental, Health, and Safety policies.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential responsibilities effectively. The following qualifications are indicative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  1. Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related field; or four to ten years of relevant experience and/or training; or a suitable combination of education and experience.
  2. Language Proficiency: Capability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical documentation, or regulatory guidelines. Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and address inquiries from management, clients, and the public.
  3. Mathematical Proficiency: Ability to apply mathematical principles including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, exponents, logarithms, and quadratic equations.
  4. Computer Skills: Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software, with a willingness to learn new software necessary for operating high voltage testing and measurement equipment.
