Overview

The Test Engineer is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the testing team, ensuring adherence to corporate, industry, and client standards. This role involves participating in the strategic planning for test equipment acquisitions and contributing to the formulation and enhancement of testing protocols. The Test Engineer also provides essential technical support to engineering, production, sales teams, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversees the production schedule and develops employee work schedules within the Test department to guarantee timely completion of product evaluations.
  2. Collaborates with the Director of Quality Assurance and Supply Chain Management to promote a safer workplace through effective safety engineering practices. Conducts training sessions focused on employee and visitor safety.
  3. Ensures that testing equipment is maintained in optimal condition.
  4. Coordinates preventive maintenance efforts to reduce downtime caused by unexpected equipment failures.
  5. Stays informed about the latest technologies and standard testing requirements within the industry (e.g., IEEE standards).
  6. Suggests enhancements and upgrades to testing apparatus to maintain compliance with industry standards.
  7. Adheres to the Quality Assurance protocols. Leads or assists in Root Cause Analysis of failures and the implementation of corrective measures.
  8. Investigates and resolves issues related to testing equipment promptly, recognizing the critical nature of downtime in production.
  9. Contributes to the development of alternative methods and procedures to address challenges and adapt to evolving market demands.
  10. Assists in resolving customer disputes as needed.
  11. Ensures measurement accuracy through the implementation and upkeep of a robust equipment calibration program.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Duties

  1. Provides support to staff on project-based assignments.
  2. Consistently operates in a safe manner, adhering to the company's Environmental, Health, and Safety policies.

  1. Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related field; or four to ten years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Language Proficiency: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical guidelines, or governmental regulations. Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  3. Mathematical Skills: Proficient in applying mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, exponents, logarithms, and quadratic equations.
  4. Computer Proficiency: To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software and be willing to learn new software necessary for operating high voltage testing and measurement equipment.
