In our urban environments, buildings account for a significant portion of carbon emissions, contributing to climate change. The need for effective HEATING, VENTILATION, and AIR CONDITIONING is constant, yet a substantial amount of energy is wasted due to inadequate technological controls.

Parity specializes in Remote HVAC Optimization as a Service, offering continuous control and enhancement of HVAC systems to generate automatic energy savings and revenue for multifamily residential buildings and hotels. By utilizing sophisticated algorithms, Parity forecasts energy requirements to efficiently manage building operations, aligning with resident needs and adjusting systems in real-time. Our clients benefit from:
  1. Time Savings: We automate adjustments and provide early alerts through our Pi (Parity Insights) dashboard.
  2. Cost Efficiency: Parity guarantees expected savings for our multifamily clients, supplemented by detailed quarterly and annual energy savings reports.
  3. Reduced Emissions: Our approach minimizes a building's carbon footprint by optimizing HVAC operations and curtailing energy waste.
THE ROLE:

We are seeking a Building Intelligence Engineer located in the New York metro area to ensure our clients' buildings are effectively integrated with Parity's services.

Utilizing your engineering expertise and knowledge of HVAC automation/control systems, you will collaborate with our Sales & Operations teams to guarantee that all buildings in our portfolio are accurately quoted, established, and continuously optimized.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform on-site evaluations of client buildings to prepare initial savings estimates and integration costs for Parity's services.
  • Employ Parity's modeling tools to conduct energy analyses based on on-site assessments, historical utility data, mechanical specifications, available building drawings, and current control sequences.
  • Oversee the installation and setup of Parity's services, ensuring timely and budget-compliant project completion while keeping clients informed throughout.
  • Facilitate communication between Parity's software platform and field controllers/devices in client buildings, testing control sequences with support from our programming team.
  • Complete final system commissioning to meet Parity, client, and incentive program requirements.
  • Manage the incentive application and procurement process for Parity.
  • Engage with building staff to understand existing control protocols and challenges.
  • Assist the sales team by providing market insights and developing proposals.
  • Support the service delivery team as a local technical resource for active buildings in the Parity system.
  • Collaborate with Operations to assist customers during and post-installation.
  • Maintain knowledge of local incentive programs, identifying eligible incentives and requirements for Parity services.
  • Build and sustain relationships with local electrical, mechanical, and controls contractors.
  • Oversee procurement of necessary hardware and installation service pricing from contractors.
  • Optimize existing systems and processes for the NYC market.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on New York's Local Law 97 and relevant local policies and trends.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Degree in Engineering, with a focus on HVAC, building automation, or mechanical/electrical engineering.
  • 1-5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Energy auditing or energy services.
    • MEP Engineering.
    • Controls/Building Automation.
  • Familiarity with energy incentive programs.
  • Willingness to travel within New York's five boroughs.
  • A strong desire to learn and grow in a dynamic startup environment.
  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and improve processes independently.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and addressing inefficiencies in processes.
  • Preference for candidates with additional qualifications such as:
    • Experience with MEP drawings, including controls drawings.
    • Project management experience in installation/retrofit projects.
    • Experience with building automation systems.
    • Familiarity with Niagara Tridium products and applications.
