ABOUT PARITY:

In urban environments, buildings are responsible for a significant portion of greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to climate change. To maintain comfort, buildings require constant heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, leading to substantial energy consumption, much of which is wasted due to inadequate technology for control.

Parity operates as a Remote HVAC Optimization as a Service provider, focusing on the continuous control and enhancement of HVAC systems to yield automatic energy savings and revenue for multifamily residential structures and hospitality venues. Utilizing sophisticated algorithms, Parity forecasts energy requirements to efficiently operate buildings in alignment with resident needs, adjusting systems and machinery in real-time. Our clients benefit from:
  1. Time Savings: Automation of setpoint adjustments and demand response protocols, with our Pi (Parity Insights) dashboard offering early alerts for system failures.
  2. Cost Savings: We guarantee energy savings for our multifamily clients and provide detailed quarterly and annual savings reports.
  3. Reduced Emissions: By optimizing HVAC systems, we minimize energy waste and lower CO2 emissions.
THE ROLE:

We are seeking a Building Intelligence Engineer located in the New York metro area to ensure our clients' buildings are effectively integrated with Parity's services.

Leveraging your engineering expertise and knowledge of HVAC automation/control systems, you will collaborate with our Sales & Operations teams to guarantee that all buildings in our portfolio are accurately quoted, set up, and optimized throughout their engagement with us. We value candidates who are driven, eager to learn, and passionate about energy efficiency and ClimateTech.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct on-site evaluations of client buildings to prepare initial estimates for savings and integration costs for Parity's services.
  • Utilize Parity's modeling tools to perform energy analyses based on on-site assessments, historical utility data, mechanical specifications, available building drawings, and current control sequences.
  • Oversee the installation and setup phases of Parity's services, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget while keeping clients informed of progress.
  • Establish communication between Parity's software platform and field controllers/devices in client buildings, testing control sequences with support from our programming team.
  • Complete final commissioning and sign-off of systems to meet Parity, client, and incentive program requirements.
  • Manage the incentive application and procurement process on behalf of Parity.
  • Interview building staff to understand existing control protocols and challenges.
  • Support the sales team by providing market insights and assisting in proposal development.
  • Act as a local technical resource for the service delivery team for buildings operational within the Parity system.
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to assist customers during and after installation.
  • Maintain an understanding of local incentive programs, identifying eligible incentives and requirements for Parity services.
  • Build and sustain relationships with local electrical, mechanical, and controls contractors.
  • Manage procurement of necessary hardware and installation service pricing from contractors.
  • Optimize existing systems and processes to effectively serve the NYC market.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on New York's Local Law 97 and other relevant local policies and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A degree in Engineering, with a strong interest in HVAC, building automation, or mechanical/electrical engineering.
  • 1-5 years of experience in areas such as:
    • Energy auditing or energy services.
    • MEP Engineering.
    • Controls/Building Automation.
  • Familiarity with energy incentive programs.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites within New York's five boroughs.
  • A desire to grow, learn, and embrace new challenges in a dynamic startup environment.
  • A quick learner who can independently execute tasks after initial guidance and continuously seeks to improve processes.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and addressing inefficiencies in processes and procedures.
  • Preference for candidates with additional qualifications such as:
    • Experience with MEP drawings, including controls drawings.
    • Experience managing installation or retrofit projects.
    • Experience with building automation systems.
    • Familiarity with Niagara Tridium products and applications.
