Building Intelligence Engineer - NYC

ABOUT PARITY:

In urban environments, buildings are responsible for a significant portion of CO2 emissions, contributing to climate change. Continuous heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) are essential for comfort, yet a substantial amount of energy is wasted due to a lack of advanced control technologies.

Parity specializes in Remote HVAC Optimization as a Service, providing 24/7 oversight and enhancement of HVAC systems to generate automatic energy savings and revenue for multifamily residential properties and hotels. Utilizing sophisticated algorithms, Parity forecasts energy requirements to effectively manage building operations, ensuring real-time adjustments to meet resident needs. Our services yield benefits such as:
  1. Time Savings: Automation of setpoint adjustments and demand response protocols, along with proactive alerts for system failures via our Pi (Parity Insights) dashboard.
  2. Cost Savings: We guarantee energy savings for our multifamily clients, complemented by detailed quarterly and annual savings reports.
  3. Reduced Emissions: By optimizing HVAC systems, we significantly lower a building's carbon footprint and minimize energy waste.
ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Building Intelligence Engineer based in the New York metro area to ensure our clients' buildings are effectively integrated with Parity's services.

Leveraging your engineering expertise and knowledge of HVAC automation/control systems, you will collaborate with our Sales & Operations teams to ensure all buildings in our portfolio are accurately quoted, established, and optimized throughout their engagement with us. We value candidates who are eager to learn and are passionate about energy efficiency and ClimateTech.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct on-site evaluations of client buildings to prepare initial estimates for savings and integration costs.
  • Utilize Parity's modeling tools to perform energy analyses based on on-site assessments, historical utility data, mechanical specifications, and current control sequences.
  • Oversee the installation and setup of Parity's services, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget while keeping clients informed.
  • Facilitate communication between Parity's software and field devices, testing control sequences with support from our programming team.
  • Complete final system commissioning to meet Parity, client, and incentive program requirements.
  • Manage the incentive application and procurement process for Parity.
  • Engage with building staff to understand existing control protocols and challenges.
  • Support the sales team with market insights and proposal development.
  • Act as a local technical resource for our service delivery team as needed.
  • Assist our Operations team in providing ongoing support to customers post-installation.
  • Maintain knowledge of local incentive programs and requirements relevant to Parity's services.
  • Develop relationships with local contractors in electrical, mechanical, and controls fields.
  • Oversee procurement of necessary hardware and installation service pricing.
  • Optimize existing systems and processes for the NYC market.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on New York's Local Law 97 and related policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Degree in Engineering, with a focus on HVAC, building automation, or mechanical/electrical engineering.
  • 1-5 years of experience in energy auditing, MEP engineering, or building automation.
  • Familiarity with energy incentive programs.
  • Willingness to travel within New York's five boroughs.
  • A proactive approach to learning and adapting in a dynamic startup environment.
  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and improve processes independently.
  • A focus on efficiency and optimization in workflows.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in MEP drawings, project management, building automation systems, or Niagara Tridium products.
