We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at Object Construction, Inc. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry, particularly in the scenic industry, and be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Material Management: Accurately measure and calculate materials for each project, minimizing waste and ensuring quality workmanship.
- Fabrication and Construction: Safely cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other materials using hand and power tools, adhering to safety guidelines and industry standards.
- Structural Integrity: Build and install structures, including flats, platforms, window frames, doors, staircases, furniture, cabinets, and shelves, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintenance and Repair: Inspect, repair, and maintain constructed pieces to ensure longevity and safety, addressing potential hazards immediately.
- Scaffolding and Rigging: Build scaffolding and other construction structures, including rigging, while working at various heights, following all safety protocols to prevent falls and injuries.
- Organization and Logistics: Maintain clean, organized, and tidy workspaces and tools, minimizing accidents and ensuring a safe working environment.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in carpentry, particularly in the scenic industry, with hands-on experience in construction and fabrication.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints and shop drawings, and in using electrical and manual carpentry tools, including saws, hammers, squares, and more.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs regularly, withstanding physically demanding positions for extended periods.
- Safety: Commitment to following all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to OSHA standards.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication with team members, site managers, and clients to ensure clarity and prevent misunderstandings that could lead to accidents or errors.
- The Carpenter will work in both indoor and outdoor environments, often in varying weather conditions, with the possibility of working at heights, in confined spaces, and with hazardous materials.
- All employees are required to follow Object Construction's safety protocols and report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.
