Position Overview
The role of the General Cashier is crucial in ensuring the integrity of cash handling processes within the organization. This position requires a strong commitment to adhere to all corporate policies and procedures relevant to cash management.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all cash handling policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate exceptional cash handling skills, ensuring accuracy with no discrepancies.
- Operate in a safe, organized, and prudent manner.
- Collect daily cash drops in the presence of a designated witness.
- Accurately count and verify daily cash receipts from individual cashiers.

- Document the reconciliation of all cash receipts to the Property Management System (PMS) and complete the daily cash over and short report.
- Prepare and execute daily bank deposits promptly.
- Reconcile daily cash submissions from various hotel departments against bank deposits.
- Report any cash discrepancies to the Chief Accountant or Director of Finance on a daily basis.

- Ensure that all cash-handling personnel have sufficient monetary change during their shifts.
- Provide hotel floats to cashiers as necessary.
- Issue due-backs to cashiers as required.
- Deposit cheque proceeds in a timely manner.

- Submit daily foreign currency rate changes to the Night Manager and ensure all rates are updated accordingly.
- Prepare the General Cashier Daily Report for approval by the Senior Accountant or Chief Accountant.
- Make petty cash disbursements following established policies.
- Reconcile petty cash payments weekly and submit for approval.

- Conduct daily cash counts of the General Cashier's float and report any discrepancies to the Chief Accountant or Assistant Financial Controller for approval.
- Perform surprise float counts for all cashiers, including non-operational roles, quarterly.

- Maintain records of overages and shortages for each cashier, ensuring evidence of review by the Chief Accountant or Assistant Financial Controller.
- Keep current house bank agreements and prepare a monthly summary of float counts that aligns with the general ledger.

- Resolve any deposit discrepancies directly with the bank while keeping the Chief Accountant or Assistant Financial Controller informed.
- Assist in cashier training and provide support to cashiers in resolving cash handling issues.
- Undertake any additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years in accounting, with at least 1 year in a similar role.
