Position Overview
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities is seeking a dedicated Senior Legal Advisor to provide expert legal guidance and support. This role involves advising on policy formulation and implementation concerning legal matters in the education sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the formulation of administrative regulations.
- Manage and respond to public records inquiries directed to the department.
- Engage in hearing processes related to various legal matters.
- Support the Chief Legal Counsel and Deputy Chief Legal Counsel in addressing legal issues.
Legal Research and Documentation
Conduct thorough research and draft legal documents, including:
- Legal opinions and memoranda.
- Responses to inquiries from agency personnel.
- Reports and decisions as necessary.
- Analysis and drafting of legislation relevant to education.
- Policy recommendations for agency leadership.
Additional Duties
Provide legal support and advice to designated centers and offices as required.
Qualifications
Must be admitted to the Ohio Bar and possess a minimum of 12 months of experience as a licensed attorney, along with 6 months of experience in employee training and development.
