The Cancer Care Coordinator plays a vital role in facilitating the care of patients with life-threatening illnesses across the continuum.

This per diem position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who can effectively manage multiple patient appointments, schedules, and tasks.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathize with patients dealing with life-threatening illnesses.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accurately registering patients and verifying demographic information and insurance information.
  • Promptly answering telephone calls and triaging them to the appropriate person.
  • Obtaining and collating all patient health information before scheduled appointments.
  • Evaluating the necessity of and performing prior authorizations and pre-certifications to ensure reimbursement for services.
  • Verifying eligibility for patient assistance funding and other indigent programs.
  • Collecting payments for office visits and preparing bank deposits.
  • Coordinating the scheduling of multiple patient appointments for medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Managing the chemo/biotherapy and radiation oncology schedules, including communicating with the interdisciplinary team about delays and revisions.
  • Scheduling urgent diagnostic testing for acutely ill patients and coordinating with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Assisting with the transportation of patients to acute care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
