About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Machine Shop Helper to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will play a critical role in the production of flight vehicle components for various spaceflight systems.

Responsibilities
  • Review and verify work instructions and tooling to ensure accurate and timely completion of job orders.
  • Perform deburring, polishing, grinding, sanding, and cleaning of parts.
  • Provide general shop support, including sweeping, mopping, and taking out trash.
  • Assist with shop maintenance duties, such as checking coolant levels and emptying chip barrels.
  • Utilize hand tools and small power tools to safely remove burrs and create edge breaks.
  • Assist with the operation of equipment, including band saws, drill presses, and forklifts.
  • Perform general machine maintenance, including coolant maintenance and chip clearance.
  • Take measurements and cut required dimensions using shop-mathematical-ability.
  • Work with team members to develop and apply process improvements that positively impact operations.
Qualifications
  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing facility is preferred.
  • Experience with pencil, orbital, and angle grinders is required.
  • Able to perform mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including work orders, drawings, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles.
  • Basic knowledge of inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges.
  • Familiarity with the use of personal computers.
  • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, stairs, work in small/restricted areas, and lift and carry 25 lbs.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience deburring.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment, such as cranes and forklifts.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to change and accept criticism.
