Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results, while also providing exceptional patient care and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and complex laboratory analyses, including blood tests, urinalyses, and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes, centrifuges, and other instruments.
  • Process and analyze laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely laboratory results.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited medical laboratory technician program.
  • One year of work or training experience in a hospital laboratory preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Certified Laboratory Assistant (CLA) within one year of hire.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
