POSITION OVERVIEW
This role is responsible for overseeing the Turnaround Project Planning & Scheduling along with Cost Control functions. This includes developing estimates at various levels, managing costs, and ensuring accurate reporting.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards while executing work.
- Oversee the safety and performance of all personnel during assigned Turnaround activities.
- Manage the planning and execution of Turnaround events and associated projects from inception to completion.
- Support contractor planners by clearly defining expectations and facilitating communication across departments.
- Verify tasks outlined in the Turnaround Work List and create detailed work scope activities.
- Evaluate each job to determine the best approach for achieving safety and budget goals.
- Compile comprehensive work packages for planning and execution.
- Engage in schedule logic reviews.
- Estimate Direct Field Labor hours, materials, and equipment for assigned areas.
- Prepare logistics plans for Turnaround units, including temporary facilities and equipment.
- Adhere to established Turnaround Standard Practice Milestones.
- Validate contractor schedule updates during execution.
- Ensure environmental plans are developed in line with health and safety standards.
- Review contractor job plans for accuracy before integration into the master schedule.
- Identify and communicate long lead material requirements in advance.
- Collaborate with key personnel to review estimates for accuracy before finalization.
- Facilitate communication with cross-functional departments to ensure smooth workflow.
- Lead coordination efforts for integrated work activities across various functions.
- Participate in project review meetings to stay informed about related projects.
- Communicate with external contractors regarding schedules and practices.
- Address requests for information related to project design and documentation.
- Generate purchase requisitions for major equipment and services.
- Contribute to the Annual Budgeting Process by providing insights from past Turnaround activities.
- Identify and escalate high-risk activities.
- Review and provide feedback on construction packages.
- Proactively plan to mitigate potential issues.
- Analyze and manage risks effectively.
- Communicate significant issues and risks to management.
- Support 'Lessons Learned' reviews coordinated by management.
- Update schedules for assigned activities.
- Evaluate and critique Turnaround activities post-completion.
- Identify opportunities to optimize Turnaround work scope costs.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Extensive experience in Turnaround Planning, Scheduling, and estimating.
- Proficient in software tools including SharePoint, MS Office Suite, and project management applications.
- Strong meeting facilitation skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Turnaround Project Controls tools.
- Understanding of refinery processes and equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Relevant project management experience in integrated Turnaround events.
- Broad knowledge of engineering principles and health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Years of experience in the refinery or petrochemical industry, preferably in a leadership role.
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across various functions.
- Knowledge of metals crafts such as piping and scaffolding.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
