Job Description

Oracle is seeking a highly skilled Senior Optical Engineer to support the design, deployment, and operations of a large-scale global Oracle cloud computing environment (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - OCI). As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the development and support of network fabric and systems, leveraging your expertise in networking and programming to drive automation and innovation in our production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Oracle engineering teams to deploy and validate high-speed optical transceivers, fiber optic components, and passive optical components.
  • Perform testing and validation of optical transceivers and passive fiber components, developing and executing comprehensive test plans to evaluate performance.
  • Conduct failure analysis, root cause investigations, and reliability studies to ensure the highest level of quality and reliability in our optical components.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in optical technology, industry trends, and emerging standards (IEEE, OIF, and industry MSAs).
  • Support source selection teams, perform vendor due diligence, and test and qualify new products for deployment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the testing and validation of optical transceivers, lasers, receivers, fiber optic components, and passive optical components.
  • Solid understanding of optical communication principles, including modulation formats, fiber optics, lasers, optical receivers, and link budgets.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with high-speed electrical test and measurement equipment and test methodologies.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure, server, and switch platforms.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE), MSAs, and transceiver form factors and features.
