POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for proposing, designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems aimed at enhancing efficiency and product specifications.


These systems comprise water-based calibration equipment utilized for the final validation of in-house manufactured flow instrumentation, automated manufacturing machinery in welding assembly and testing, as well as supporting logistic systems in shipping, warehousing, and other areas.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
include, but are not limited to:
• Maintain and troubleshoot manufacturing automation systems.
• Design and develop PLC/Loop Controller systems based on project specifications in a timely manner.
• Program and troubleshoot PLCs and Loop Controllers from various manufacturers (e.g., Automation Direct, Allen-Bradley, etc.).
• Develop and maintain HMI (Human Machine Interface) terminals for user interaction with controllers.
• Program equipment controllers and layout any additional controls required by machines.
• Design and layout electrical control panels, enclosures, and controls.
• Develop and maintain databases.
• Document control system designs and track modifications for future reference.
• Participate in performance testing, commissioning, and startup of projects.

Collaborate closely with other engineers, local and corporate IT to ensure designs comply with standards and are delivered accurately and promptly.

• Respond to and resolve automation equipment end-user issues.
• Provide technical, diagnostic, investigative, and repair support to Manufacturing and Service as needed.
• Assist with facility electrical troubleshooting, including interaction with electricians and external vendors.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Controls Engineering from an accredited institution.

Additionally, a minimum of five years of relevant experience and/or training after completing education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience:


Experience with PLCs, proficiency in programming PLCs using ladder logic (LL), function block diagrams (FBD), and other applicable programming languages, working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., HART, Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet/IP), knowledge of HMI design and programming, strong understanding of Networking, Microsoft Excel, Access, and programming languages.


LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.

Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.


Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage several abstract and concrete variables. A strong understanding of complex electromechanical systems and troubleshooting skills is essential.
