Job Summary:


This position, under the direction of the Executive Director of Finance in the School of Medicine, is a dynamic and entrepreneurial-minded business development manager who will collaborate closely with laboratory leadership in driving the growth and success of the Nontuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM) Clinical and Environmental Reference Laboratories in the Center for NTM Innovation. This position possesses a strong understanding of business strategy, finance, marketing, and logistics, and plays a pivotal role in executing strategic initiatives to expand the laboratory's reach and impact within the medical and public communities.


Key Responsibilities:


• Develops feasibility assessments, program plans, and asset investment proformas for new programs within portfolio.


• Supports establishment of new forecasting, and long-range planning initiatives.


• Assists leadership with the development of the Strategic and Operational Business Plan of the Center and overall NTM work.


• Drives the execution of the strategic plan to achieve business objectives such as expanding services, increasing market share or increasing operational efficiency.


• Works with laboratory leadership to track progress toward its goals, creating monthly operating reports, key operating indicators, and financial performance measures.


Operational Excellence:


• Oversees budgeting, financial forecasting, and expense control measures to ensure the laboratory operates within financial constraints while maximizing profitability.


• Identifies new business opportunities, forge partnerships with healthcare providers or institutions, and explore and bring to leadership avenues for revenue growth through marketing and sales efforts.


• Cultivates strong relationships with clients, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders to understand their needs, address concerns, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.


• Participates in planning, directing, and coordinating marketing efforts to meet strategic goals and objectives.


• Prepares and delivers a wide range of materials, presentations, and tools including financial analysis, business plans, needs assessments, market analysis, and other reports on a regular basis.


• Responsible for researching and creating operational and financial data analysis.


• Assists with Center marketing and advertising strategies and creates deliverables that will help grow Center business and competitiveness.


• Designs, updates, and maintains queries and reports with an emphasis on those associated with the financial and business operations, adjusted earnings calculations, and analysis required by the UTT SOM's participation in the UT Health East Texas enterprise.


• Collaborates with the institution's Manager of Contract Administration to facilitate timely review and execution of research or contracts for consumables and services to support operations through the institution's contract tracking system.


• Works with other finance staff to submit and track necessary forms and documentation for various administrative functions related to the business activities of the Center including but not limited to RBCs, eForms, requisitions, invoices, and capital request related documentation.


• Examines financial and operational issues and potential impacts that arise and identifies and proposes solutions to address these issues.


• Collaborates with internal supporting services (accounting, hospital laboratory and clinics, etc.).


• Responsible for other duties as assigned.
