Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to join our team at El Camino Health. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food to our patients, cafeteria, and catering clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook a variety of menu items, including entrees, sides, and desserts, to meet the dietary needs of our patients and clients.
  • Maintain accurate and consistent food presentation, portion control, and menu accuracy.
  • Comply with Food Safety Code and HACCP standards to ensure a safe and healthy food environment.
  • Collaborate with our culinary team to develop new recipes, menus, and food presentation ideas.
  • Monitor food quality standards to ensure consistency and highest quality standards of the El Camino Health food experience.
Requirements
  • 3 years of quantity cooking experience in healthcare or hospitality required.
  • AA Degree in hospitality or Certification from an accredited culinary institute highly desirable.
  • Good math skills required, must be able to scale recipes.
  • Must understand and follow recipes in food preparation and serving.
  • Demonstrated ability to accept responsibility and problem-solving.
  • Knowledge in more advanced food preparation (i.e. slice, julienne, dice, batonnet, tourne) a plus.
  • Knowledge in Buffet and Banquet Platters a plus.
  • Demonstration cooking skills a plus.
Working Conditions

This position requires standing the majority of the shift with the ability to lift up to 35 lbs. frequently. Work involves sitting, kneeling, climbing, and squatting.
