Job Overview

This role involves executing controls engineering and construction projects by effectively designing, planning, organizing, and managing all project components.

The responsibilities of the Energy Efficiency Project Engineer are diverse and tailored to each unique project, which may include varying specifications, objectives, environmental conditions, and financial aspects. Duties may be assigned in full or in part, depending on the specific project requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify utility rebate opportunities to minimize equipment costs or operational enhancements, conducting economic and energy assessments.
  • Conduct thorough energy audits.
  • Examine energy systems, including HVAC and lighting, to identify potential energy-saving strategies.
  • Engage in energy modeling, measurement, verification, commissioning, or retro-commissioning activities.
  • Analyze architectural, mechanical, or electrical plans to assess energy efficiency and feasibility.
  • Verify energy bills and meter readings for accuracy.
  • Propose policies and procedures for effective and economical operations.
  • Develop utility management strategies related to building HVAC and lighting systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on utility management performance and operations.
  • Collaborate with local utility companies to encourage customers to adopt more efficient systems and enhance existing projects.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Certified Energy Manager or other relevant certifications from the Association of Energy Engineers is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in conducting energy calculations, both manually and through software such as Carrier HAP.
  • Ability to evaluate utility consumption from various equipment types, including HVAC and lighting systems.
  • Familiarity with building automation and management systems.
  • Understanding of various energy service forms.
