Job Summary

Cayuga Health System is seeking a skilled Health Information Coder to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for assigning accurate and sequenced codes to diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign codes to diagnoses and procedures using ICD and CPT codes.
  • Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with government and insurance regulations.
  • Communicate with medical staff for any documentation that is insufficient and/or unclear.
  • Able to work independently and understand coding edits and bill holds.
  • Flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Coding certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC required.
  • One to two years of hospital inpatient coding experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two-year degree in Health Information Management or related field.
  • Three or more years of hospital inpatient coding experience.
  • Certification with AHIMA preferred.

Work Environment:

  • Remote work option available.
  • Flexible schedule with core hours of 7:30am - 4:00pm.

Compensation:

  • $21.63 to $31.25 per hour.
