Cayuga Health System is seeking a skilled Health Information Coder to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for assigning accurate and sequenced codes to diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign codes to diagnoses and procedures using ICD and CPT codes.
- Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with government and insurance regulations.
- Communicate with medical staff for any documentation that is insufficient and/or unclear.
- Able to work independently and understand coding edits and bill holds.
- Flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Coding certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC required.
- One to two years of hospital inpatient coding experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two-year degree in Health Information Management or related field.
- Three or more years of hospital inpatient coding experience.
- Certification with AHIMA preferred.
Work Environment:
- Remote work option available.
- Flexible schedule with core hours of 7:30am - 4:00pm.
Compensation:
- $21.63 to $31.25 per hour.
