Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Equipment Specialist to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our refrigeration equipment, boilers, and compressed air systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair refrigeration equipment, boilers, and compressed air systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Perform daily assignments and tasks as assigned by the supervisor, including preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to gather process safety information and review PSM program and associated OSHA regulations.
  • Meet with personnel to discuss previous shift situations and address any problems that may affect operations.
  • Complete required daily paperwork and submit to the supervisor.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ammonia refrigeration experience necessary.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, as well as good organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, shop drawings, sketches, and work orders.
  • Ability to maintain routine records.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds utilizing the buddy system or specifically designed lifting devices. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
