Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Counselor III to join our team at Harmony Recovery. As a key member of our counseling team, you will provide expert counseling, mental health, and risk assessments to promote individualized client recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, interpretive summaries, and care planning based on individual needs, and complete diagnosis based on DSM-5 criteria.
  • Coordinate client care with medical staff to address initial, ongoing, and continuing care needs.
  • Complete bio-psycho-social assessments in a timely manner, providing recommendations for treatment.
  • Establish effective communication with client referents and family members to develop treatment plans and transition care.
  • Support Case Management in coordination of care, discharge planning, and referral with clients and families.
  • Provide counseling services to clients in various programs, including Detox, Lodge, and Swickard.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family counseling sessions addressing client needs, including relapse prevention.
  • Complete treatment plan reviews using the ASAM dimensions and attend reviews as scheduled.
  • Prepare and complete necessary documentation and record keeping in a timely and accurate manner according to state and federal guidelines.
  • Facilitate group sessions targeting mental health issues concurrent with substance use disorders.
  • Maintain knowledge and adhere to Harmony policies and procedures.
  • Participate as an effective and contributing member of the counseling team.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competency related to confidentiality and ethical standards of the counseling profession.
  • Attend continuing education classes when possible and apply knowledge learned to work at Harmony.
  • Complete Counselor on Call responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Family Therapy.
  • Certified Addiction Specialist (ACC) or NAADAC equivalent is preferred.
  • Counseling licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LAC, or equivalent) is required.
  • Two (2) years of previous experience working in counseling or mental health services is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to establish a therapeutic alliance with clients.
  • Working knowledge of DSM-5 criteria.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of addiction and human behavior.
  • Skilled in one or more evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
  • Proven advanced skills in facilitating individual/group counseling with concurrent mental health issues.
  • Familiarity with 12-step facilitation.
  • Proven ability to teach and motivate people.
  • Personal maturity reflected by sound judgment and decision-making.
  • Ability to relate with detachment and empathy to clients and families.
  • Skilled in working effectively with colleagues across the organization.
  • Demonstrated awareness of scope of expertise and ethical requirements to refer mental health issues to appropriate staff or external resources.
  • CPR and First Aid certified.
  • Authentic commitment to Harmony's mission and vision, actively working to further organizational objectives.
