Job Title: Family Counselor - Substance Use Disorders

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Family Counselor to join our team at Harmony Recovery. As a Family Counselor, you will provide education and support to client family members/significant others regarding the disease of addiction and the process of recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Services to develop family programming and services.
  2. Support and mediate virtual Family Peer Support groups.
  3. Facilitate clinically focused sessions on addiction and family dynamics in virtual Family Engagement & Education groups.
  4. Champion the integration of family members in client recovery to achieve desired outcomes and treatment goals.
  5. Initiate contacts with clients and family members to aid in the integration of care.
  6. Foster an understanding of addiction within the context of the family system.
  7. Provide therapeutic treatment, behavior modification, and stress management tools to clients and families.
  8. Lead Recovery Skills sessions specific to the interplay of addiction and recovery within family systems.
  9. Provide services to clients in various programs (Detox, Lodge, Swickard) as needed.
  10. Prepare and complete necessary documentation and record keeping in a timely and accurate manner.
  11. Maintain knowledge and adhere to Harmony policies and procedures.
  12. Participate as an effective and contributing member of the Counseling team.
  13. Demonstrate knowledge and competency related to confidentiality and ethical standards of the counseling profession.
  14. Attend continuing education classes when possible and apply knowledge learned to work at Harmony.

Requirements:

  1. Ability to establish a therapeutic alliance with clients.
  2. Working knowledge of DSM-5 criteria.
  3. Ability to effectively utilize systemic approaches to therapy.
  4. Skilled in one or more evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
  6. Proven advanced skills in crisis management.
  7. Ability to promote wellbeing in family systems through teaching and motivation.
  8. Personal maturity reflected by sound judgment and decision-making.
  9. Ability to relate with detachment and empathy to clients and families.
  10. Skilled in working effectively with colleagues across the organization.
  11. Demonstrated awareness of scope of expertise and ethical requirements to refer mental health issues to appropriate staff or external resources.
  12. CPR and First Aid certified.
  13. Flexibility to work on-site and virtually in a therapeutic setting with routine day and evening work shifts.
