Solterra Academy is a unique therapeutic school providing comprehensive special education for students aged 5 to 22 with severe emotional, behavioral, cognitive, developmental, and/or learning challenges.

As a certified Special Education Teacher seeking a challenging opportunity, you will provide engaging and differentiated academic lessons for all subjects for the classroom. Teachers will work collaboratively with our clinicians, administration, and classroom support staff to ensure student success within our program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare students' individual goals and objectives in SMART format.
  • Implement the IEP as approved by the PPT.
  • Submit report cards and IEP progress marks by due dates, proofing and editing as needed.
  • Develop a system to track student progress on IEP goals.
  • Conduct academic assessments three times a year (i.e., Star 360) to track student progress and inform IEP goals and objectives.
  • Prepare for and participate in PPT's.
  • Prepare for and participate in Team Meetings.
  • Develop written lesson plans and implement engaging, differentiated academic lessons aligned with the Common Core State Standards for all subjects within the classroom.
  • Daily communication with parents/guardians via home notes or emails.
Behavior Management
  • Implement PBIS practices with fidelity.
  • Implement TCI strategies to support students emotionally and behaviorally.
  • Implement students' BIPs throughout the school day.
  • Demonstrate the ability to set limits and maintain personal boundaries.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interactions with students/families.
