The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a key scientific authority in the field, providing strategic support for the scientific and commercial goals of a specific therapeutic area throughout the product life cycle.

MSLs act as the primary representatives of AbbVie’s scientific knowledge within their designated regions, engaging with healthcare professionals to discuss disease states and treatment options relevant to their therapeutic area.

They blend robust business insight, clinical knowledge, and market intelligence, acting as a vital source of information for a diverse internal audience at AbbVie.

Depending on therapeutic demands and product timelines, MSL teams may concentrate on various responsibilities, including clinical development and pipeline initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Develop and sustain professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver comprehensive scientific support for Allergan Aesthetics' initiatives in Plastics and Regenerative Medicine (PRM).


Facilitate the exchange of information, education, and research activities for healthcare providers regarding current and future therapies developed or marketed by Allergan Aesthetics.

Provide scientific expertise and act as a point of contact for both external and internal stakeholders in PRM. Collect and relay scientific insights to guide global strategic planning for PRM.

Domestic and limited international travel may be necessary.

External Engagements:

Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with leading experts in the therapeutic area to establish a strong scientific presence within clinical and academic circles.

Ensure optimal development and communication with thought leaders. Collaborate across functions to build scientific and clinical credibility with payers, managed markets, and healthcare decision-makers.

Deliver meaningful and comprehensive external scientific communications proactively and reactively.

Present assigned portfolio-related clinical information and participate in prioritized scientific meetings and congresses.

Execute Advisory Boards (both in-person and virtual) based on scientific needs and the strategic plan for the therapeutic area.

Support country-level scientific education needs aligned with the global strategic plan, including scientific exchange meetings.

Document and synthesize external insights to inform Allergan Aesthetics' PRM strategy (e.g., strategic insights, customer interactions).

Scientific Data Generation and Internal Communication:
Contribute to the evaluation of research proposals and publications.

Assist in the creation of materials and content for scientific communications.

Provide scientific training for cross-functional hires as necessary.

Establish and maintain internal connections with broader R&D, Commercial, and other departments.

Contribute to strategic planning by leveraging scientific expertise and understanding of the external healthcare landscape.

Strategic and Tactical Planning:
Contribute to the development and implementation of the Medical Affairs strategic and tactical plans for the therapeutic area. Communicate progress on project milestones.

Assist in the planning and execution of broader functional activities that support the strategic plan for the therapeutic area.

Support assigned Core Teams within the therapeutic area as needed, contributing to designated sub-teams.

Represent the therapeutic area on Clinical teams.
