Child Nutrition Program Associate

QUALIFICATIONS:

  4. Previous experience in food service operations is preferred
  5. Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board of Education
REPORTS TO: CNP Manager, Principal, and CNP Director

JOB GOAL: To deliver nutritious meals to students in a welcoming environment and in a timely manner.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Adhere to the written and verbal instructions of the lunchroom manager or their designee in the preparation, serving, storage, cleaning, and related tasks essential for the operation of the Child Nutrition Program.
  2. Maintain good personal hygiene and keep all work areas clean and organized.
  3. Comply with all policies regarding employees as established by the Lanett City Board of Education.
  4. Foster a pleasant, courteous, and friendly demeanor towards students, staff, and fellow nutrition program workers. Attendance and adherence to work hours are critical. Must demonstrate integrity, reliability, confidentiality, and appropriate communication and behavior.
  5. Participate in mandatory meetings, training sessions, and work-related events.
  6. Additional responsibilities for those assigned cashier duties include: operating computer-based point of sale systems, managing cash in the register drawer, and signing cash deposit records. Other tasks may involve assisting in preparing bank deposits, recording and reconciling meals, and any other duties as directed by the Lunchroom Manager in the daily operation of the program.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Understanding of safety protocols, sanitation standards, food preparation techniques, and equipment utilized in school cafeterias.
  2. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, school faculty, staff, and students.
  3. Competence in reading, writing, and following both oral and written instructions.
  4. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  5. Capacity to learn and apply prescribed methods for handling food supplies.
  6. Ability to read and interpret recipes and food serving guidelines.
  7. Proficiency in using equipment timers, controls, and ingredient scaling devices.
  8. Capability to be a safe food handler, free from diseases that may be transmitted through food.
  9. Ability to read chemical product safety sheets and adhere to required safety protocols while using and cleaning food preparation equipment.
  10. Proficiency in using food preparation equipment that can dice, slice, cut, chip, bake, steam, braise, broil, and puree while following the manufacturer's safety recommendations.
  11. Ability to lift moderately heavy food cases from the floor to storage areas.
  12. Skill in using floor cleaning equipment to sweep, mop, and/or scrub floors as necessary.
  13. Ability to empty large trash receptacles into dumpsters.
  14. Capacity to transfer hot food pans from preparation equipment to serving areas.
  15. Physical dexterity, mobility, and strength to stoop, bend, lift, reach, and climb as required to fulfill the essential functions of this role.
  16. Ability to work for extended periods in a cold or hot and humid kitchen environment.
  17. Capability to stand for long durations on hard surfaces during food preparation using work surfaces that are elevated.
  18. Proficiency in disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling food preparation and cleaning equipment.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and contract duration to be determined by the Board's salary schedule.

EVALUATION

Job performance will be assessed annually in accordance with the Board's evaluation policy for professional or support personnel.
