Child Nutrition Program Associate

QUALIFICATIONS:

  5. Any alternative qualifications deemed suitable by the Board of Education are acceptable
REPORTS TO: CNP Manager, Principal, and CNP Director

JOB GOAL: To deliver nutritious meals to students in a welcoming environment and in a timely manner.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Adhere to written and verbal directives from the lunchroom manager or their representative regarding the preparation, serving, storage, cleaning, and related tasks essential for the operation of the Child Nutrition Program.
  2. Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and keep all work areas organized and clean.
  3. Comply with all policies regarding employee conduct as established by the Lanett City Board of Education.
  4. Foster a friendly, courteous, and approachable demeanor towards students, staff, and fellow nutrition workers. Punctuality and adherence to work hours are critical. Demonstrate integrity, reliability, confidentiality, and appropriate communication and behavior.
  5. Participate in mandatory meetings, training sessions, and work-related events.
  6. Additional responsibilities for those assigned to cashier duties include: operating computer-based point of sale systems, managing cash in the register, and maintaining cash deposit records. Other tasks may involve assisting with bank deposits, recording and reconciling meal counts, and any other duties as directed by the Lunchroom Manager in the daily operations of the program.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Familiarity with safety protocols, sanitation standards, food preparation techniques, and equipment utilized in school cafeterias.
  2. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, school personnel, and students.
  3. Proficient in reading, writing, and following both oral and written instructions.
  4. Competence in basic mathematics.
  5. Capacity to learn and apply designated food handling methods.
  6. Ability to interpret recipes and food serving guidelines.
  7. Proficient in using timers, controls, and ingredient measuring equipment.
  8. Capability to handle food safely, ensuring no transmission of foodborne illnesses.
  9. Ability to read safety data sheets for chemical products and adhere to safety protocols while using and cleaning food preparation equipment.
  10. Proficient in operating food preparation equipment for various cooking methods including dicing, slicing, cutting, baking, steaming, braising, broiling, and pureeing, following manufacturer safety guidelines.
  11. Ability to lift moderately heavy food cases from the floor to storage areas.
  12. Competence in using cleaning equipment to maintain floors as necessary.
  13. Ability to manage waste disposal effectively.
  14. Capacity to transfer hot food pans safely from preparation areas to serving areas.
  15. Physical agility, mobility, and strength to perform essential functions of the role, including bending, lifting, reaching, and climbing.
  16. Ability to work in varying temperature conditions in a kitchen environment.
  17. Capability to stand for extended periods on hard surfaces during food preparation.
  18. Ability to disassemble, clean, and reassemble food preparation and cleaning equipment.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and contract duration will be determined by the Board's salary schedule.

EVALUATION

Job performance will be assessed annually in accordance with the Board's evaluation policies for professional or support staff.
