Position Summary

The Nutritional Coordinator is tasked with the preparation and provision of meals, ensuring that they not only meet but exceed State and USDA standards. This role emphasizes the creation of wholesome, 'home-cooked' meals that foster a family-oriented dining experience for children. The Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring that Northstar Early Learning Center delivers an exceptional child development experience that is both educational and affordable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve and portion meals for children
  • Maintain accurate records of food usage and financial expenditures
  • Onboard and train new staff members
  • Conduct inventory checks of kitchen supplies and equipment
  • Oversee the center's food and nutrition program
  • Prepare nutritious meals
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and supplies
  • Adhere to dishwashing protocols as per established guidelines
  • Support the emotional and social development of children
  • Keep up with continuing education units (CEUs) and professional development
  • Complete necessary certification processes to advance in the role
  • Prepare breakfast and snacks for children
  • Maintain consistent attendance as scheduled
Work Activities:

Essential Functions:
  • Follow and execute recipes accurately
  • Understand and comply with state health and food service regulations
  • Evaluate information to ensure compliance with standards
  • Organize, plan, and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Engage directly with the public and provide excellent customer service
  • Serve food and beverages with care
  • Make informed decisions and solve problems efficiently
  • Calculate food costs and portion sizes
  • Perform general physical activities, including cleaning the kitchen area
  • Monitor food temperatures to ensure proper cooking
  • Handle and move kitchen objects safely
  • Prepare a variety of dishes, including appetizers and salads
  • Inspect kitchen equipment and facilities for cleanliness
Qualifications:

Certification Requirements:
Must possess Serve Safe Certification for Manager or be able to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment
  • Capability to work independently and remain focused
  • Strong prioritization skills to manage tasks effectively
