Job Description

CPI is seeking a Linux System Administrator to support the USNO in deploying and maintaining its precise timing and astrometry networks.

The successful candidate will provide technical support to the Precise Time, Celestial Reference Frame, Earth Orientation, and DevSecOps Departments at USNO.

The position will be located at the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington D.C. with partial telework options.

Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience working as a Linux system administrator
  • Experience managing, configuring, and patching Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Experience with STIG and remediating vulnerabilities reported in ACAS and other security standards
  • Experience with servers in virtualized environments (vSphere)
  • Experience integrating servers via alerting systems (Solarwinds, AIDE etc)
  • Experience configuring and managing Linux Active Directory Services (Centrify, IDM/FreeIPA etc)
  • Experience installing and configuring Antivirus agents in Linux environments (McAfee/Trellix, MDE)
  • Experience with integrating systems with syslogging servers (Solarwinds, Rsyslog etc)
  • Experience administering Linux environments using configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet etc)
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or approved DoD 8570 equivalent required
