Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Geospatial Technologies team is in search of a Geospatial Systems Application Expert to enhance mapping and geospatial application functionalities. This role is integral to supporting the Pattern Geospatial Platform utilizing Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online, along with Experience Builder, Python/Arcade, and other scripting tools to develop geospatial web content. The Geospatial Systems Application Expert will collaborate closely with the Manager of Geospatial Systems to aid in the design and standardization of Pattern's Geospatial Platform by configuring ArcGIS Mobile, Web, and Desktop applications.

This position entails cross-functional collaboration with the broader Geospatial Technologies team to establish and deliver a standardized GIS application offering throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities

  • Facilitate data lifecycle management processes by overseeing data inputs and workflows, and developing and automating processes where applicable.
  • Integrate geospatial web applications with external data sources and establish efficient workflows.
  • Create web-based mapping products and services utilizing Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, GeoEvent Server, GeoAnalytic Server, Image Server, Workforce for ArcGIS, and mobile GIS applications.
  • Conduct raster data editing and analysis.
  • Support strategic GIS initiatives and deliverables, guiding both technical and strategic directions.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Geospatial Technologies team to ensure consistency of spatial data across development, construction, and operational datasets.
  • Engage in the creation and maintenance of web and mobile applications for various company functions within development, construction, and operations.
  • Assist in formulating a GIS training plan to familiarize users with essential products.
Qualifications

Experience / Qualifications / Education Required

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in geography, spatial science, GIS, or a related field.

Required Work Experience

2-5 years of experience as a GIS Analyst or Application Specialist.

Required Knowledge

  • Proficiency in configuring ArcGIS Dashboards, Experience Pages, Hub Sites, and other configurable ArcGIS web applications.
  • Experience with Esri mobile tools such as Survey123, Workforce, Field Maps, Collector, or QuickCapture.
  • Ability to create web layers and web maps in ArcGIS Online and Portal.
  • Capability to understand and extract GIS datasets from various sources.
  • Willingness to collaborate with all departments within the company (environmental, engineering/construction, meteorology, land) and a desire to learn how GIS applications can support these areas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities and a capacity for independent work.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency in scripting with Python using arcpy and ArcGIS API for Python.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript and Arcade is advantageous.
  • Experience with FME is a plus.

The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $80,000 USD - $108,000. This range is an estimate, and actual base pay may vary based on factors such as location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern's compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees at all levels. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, voluntary benefits, family care benefits, employee assistance program, paid time off and bonding leave, paid holidays, and a 401(k)/RRSP retirement savings plan with employer contributions.
