Role Overview
The Business Banking Officer is responsible for establishing new business banking relationships and enhancing the cross-selling of services to existing clients within a designated portfolio, typically involving customers with annual revenues below $10 million. The focus is on increasing deposits, loans, and fee income in a sustainable and profitable manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in the bank's business development initiatives.
  • Identify suitable prospects within defined target markets, generally with annual revenues under $10 million, while maintaining an effective prospect list to drive growth in loan, deposit, and fee income portfolios.
  • Serve prospects and clients through a consultative selling approach, acting as a trusted advisor to help them identify and address business opportunities and challenges, ultimately assisting them in achieving their objectives while maximizing our effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with other bank departments, such as Retail, Private Banking, and Treasury Management, to identify additional relevant products and services.
  • Participate in the underwriting and documentation processes for credit.
  • Engage in discussions with bank management, the Small Business Loan Center, the credit department, industry specialists, and other stakeholders to share information and insights while considering diverse opinions.
  • Assist in managing a loan portfolio.
  • Monitor the portfolio for credit quality, recognizing and reporting early warning signs of potential credit issues to minimize risk and maintain appropriate risk ratings on all loans.
  • Support the bank in achieving positive CRA metrics by collaborating with bank-level, regional, or HTLF CRA Officers.
  • Complete the annual E-Learning Plan and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training as assigned, staying informed about BSA as it pertains to the job function.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of banking experience, particularly in lending, is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of business tax returns, P&L statements, business cash flow, and personal financial statements is required.
  • Good grasp of credit documentation and credit risk.
  • Basic knowledge of loan, deposit, and Treasury Management products.
  • Proven track record in sales and business development.

The targeted salary for this role is $69, $90,558.00. You may also be offered incentive compensation and benefits, which may include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Health Savings Account, and Paid Time Off.
