Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the Site Medical Director and Health Center Manager, the Optometrist is tasked with ensuring that all patients receive top-quality vision care.

The Optometrist evaluates the effectiveness of the Vision Clinic to guarantee that the highest standards of healthcare are upheld.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the primary liaison with the Clinic Medical Director and Health Center Manager.
  • Ensures that the Vision Clinic operates efficiently during designated hours and that services are available as planned.
  • Supervises opticians and other optical personnel in collaboration with the Health Center Manager.
  • Provides and ensures that patients receive appropriate routine eye examinations and urgent care, along with other vision-related services suitable for the care environment.
  • Guarantees timely referrals to specialists or other providers when medically necessary.
  • Monitors and coordinates patient treatment effectively.
  • Ensures that care documentation in medical records meets established quality standards and is accurately entered into the electronic medical record system.
  • Acts as a daily resource for physicians and medical clinic staff regarding vision care matters.
  • Reviews medical utilization data in conjunction with the Health Center Manager and staff physicians, participating in studies to develop cost-benefit information for the primary care vision clinic.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings and maintains records of these meetings.
  • Participates in the recruitment process, including referrals, interviews, and/or skills assessments.
  • Collaborates with the clinic management team to ensure a productive and seamless operation of the vision clinic.
  • Assists the Health Center Manager in addressing patient concerns regarding care issues and works towards resolving problems to enhance patient care.
  • Assists in the preparation, investigation, and follow-up of incident reports.
  • Develops vision care protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with accepted quality standards.
  • Assists in promoting the vision/medical clinic.
  • Maintains compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

  • Valid O.D. state license. Board certified or eligible in Optometry.
  • Current certification in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for healthcare providers.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a leadership role.

Compensation Range:
$60.00-$70.00/hr
