Cryptographic Services Software Engineering Director

Capital One is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead a team of software engineers and subject matter experts in delivering Cryptographic Services to the enterprise.

This individual will be an engineering leader who enjoys solving complex business problems in a fast-paced, collaborative, inclusive, and iterative delivery environment.

The Director of Software Engineering will be part of the Cyber Data Protection organization and will be responsible for leading a team of analysts and engineers to deliver cryptographic key and certificate management solutions to the broader Capital One enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of analysts and engineers to deliver cryptographic key and certificate management solutions
  • Work with internal product teams to create a compelling vision for the Crypto Services program, build and maintain roadmaps, and measure delivery
  • Interface with internal customers and stakeholders to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions for complex use cases
  • Lead complex vendor relationships and ensure well-managed integration of vendor platforms into our broader Capital One ecosystem
  • Create and implement processes to drive well-managed delivery, focusing on principles of engineering excellence and operational maturity
  • Manage risk proactively and effectively, leveraging enterprise risk management processes
  • Coach and mentor engineers through their career development and performance

Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of experience in Cyber Security
  • At least 5 years of experience in Software Development
  • At least 5 years of people leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 10+ years of professional experience coding
  • 10+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support
  • 3+ years of experience in managing cryptographic services
  • 3+ years of experience with public cloud technologies
