Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage multiple teams of Software, Data, and ML Engineers.
  • Hire and grow world-class engineering talent, providing mentoring and guidance for professional and technical development.
  • Build systems that adhere to the highest engineering quality standards, applying your vision and expertise to set the bar on resiliency, scalability, efficiency, and performance.
  • Stay on top of emerging technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other engineers.
  • Partner with product managers and business teams to design solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our risk management customers.
  • Build systems that have an immediate impact on our business and customers, shipping early and often to production.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least 7 years of experience in software development.
  • At least 5 years of experience in people management.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 9+ years of experience in Software Engineering or Data Engineering as an individual contributor.
  • Experience in building data applications that leverage distributed technologies (Spark, Flink, Hive) to execute workflows at scale.
  • 5+ years of experience developing front-end applications using modern frameworks (React, Angular).
  • Experience in operating applications using AWS, leveraging services such as Lambda, Fargate, RDS, and Kinesis, employing multi-AZ and multi-region practices to solve for resiliency.
  • Experience in developing personalized experiences, leveraging experimentation (A/B testing, multi-armed bandit) to optimize.

Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on the agreed-upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $274,800 - $313,600 for Director, Software Engineering

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
