The Safety Manager at Shaw Bakers is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety and security programs that ensure the well-being of all employees and visitors while protecting the company from external threats. This role entails evaluating existing safety components, implementing robust training programs, and ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements. Additionally, the Safety and Security Manager will assist the Director of Safety and Security in managing the company's Security Program, overseeing incident response, contractor management, and providing technical advice on safety and security matters. This role also involves conducting safety audits, risk assessments, managing WC claims, and overseeing vendor management to identify and mitigate potential hazards, ensuring a safe and secure working environment. The Manager will assist in developing programs, preparing budgets, and performing other duties to support the department's objectives. This position demands strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to safety and security challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety and security programs to ensure employee well-being and protect the company from external threats.
  • Evaluate existing safety components and implement robust training programs to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.
  • Assist the Director of Safety and Security in managing the company's Security Program, overseeing incident response, contractor management, and providing technical advice on safety and security matters.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and manage WC claims to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Oversee vendor management to ensure a safe and secure working environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of progressive professional experience in safety role.
  • 3+ years of experience in a security management role leading people, systems, and processes.
  • Advanced skills and knowledge of health and safety legal guidelines and regulations.
  • Proven track record in risk management – systems development and rollout.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing training programs, using both internal and external subject matter experts.
  • Advanced skills and knowledge in occupational safety and health administration standards.
  • Ability to travel independently among business units in South San Francisco and San Leandro.
  • Proven track record proactively managing workers' compensation cases, results reducing cases.
  • Strong leadership, influence skills, professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Experience with security systems, such as CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
  • Ability to conduct security risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess security vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.

What We Offer:

Base compensation for this role will range between $100,000 - $130,000, based on knowledge, skills, abilities, and other factors.
