Job Title: Peer Support Mentor

Siletz Tribal Gaming Comm is seeking a Peer Support Mentor to join our team. As a Peer Support Mentor, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals in their recovery journey.

Job Summary:

The Peer Support Mentor will provide individual and group skill-building for independent living, physical, and recreational activities. They will also participate with outpatient staff in planning and providing aftercare services, making referrals to tribal and other community resources, and preparing and completing program reports.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group skill-building for independent living, physical, and recreational activities.
  • Participate with outpatient staff in planning and providing aftercare services.
  • Make referrals to tribal and other community resources and twelve-step groups.
  • Prepare and complete program reports.
  • Update records to document client services delivered.
  • Maintain up-to-date client records according to Indian Health Service, state, and program standards.
  • Provide transportation for clients to and from residential treatment, medical, and dental appointments.
  • Observe and track client U.A's.
  • Attend monthly meetings with other partners as requested.
  • Attend weekly Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) staff meetings to discuss mutual clients, assisting with coordinated care for Behavioral Health and/or MAT clients.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of Tribal and other services available to assist individuals in recovery. They will be able to work with a wide variety of people, communicate effectively with program staff, clients, and the community, and demonstrate cultural competency in direct service, within the organization, and in program planning and development.

The Peer Support Mentor I will require a High School diploma or GED and one year of verifiable experience in a human services field. They must be able and willing to become certified, within 12 months, as a Certified Recovery Mentor through the Mental Health and Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO). The Peer Support Mentor II will require a Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) certification through MHACBO with 2 years of experience in the Behavioral Health (BH) field, satisfactory evaluations, and approval from the BH department Administrator.

Abstinence during employment in this capacity is essential to the overall effectiveness of the program. Individuals in recovery from the disease of alcoholism and/or other drug dependence must affirm that previous employment performance has not been impaired by alcoholism/substance abuse over the past two years. First Aid and CPR or must acquire within six months of hire. Must possess a valid driver's license, insurance, and be eligible to drive a GSA vehicle.
