We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Patient Account Representative to join our team at Optum. As a key member of our collections team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive accurate and timely billing information, while also working to resolve any discrepancies or issues that may arise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect patient responsibility for hospital visits, ensuring accurate and timely billing information
  • Apply thorough knowledge of collections and billing processes to resolve patient account discrepancies and issues
  • Identify problem accounts and review accounts for potential issues, making recommendations to management as needed
  • Communicate with insurance companies to resolve patient responsibility at the point of service
  • Sort and file correspondence, maintaining accurate and organized records
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1+ year of customer service experience, with a focus on collections or billing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work an 8-hour shift between 7:00 AM and 11:30 PM EST, with a Saturday or Sunday shift
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
