Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Personal Banker to join our team at Midland States Bank. As a Personal Banker, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to our diverse clientele, identifying referral opportunities, and building strong relationships with our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to our customers, responding to their needs and resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Identify referral opportunities and build strong relationships with our customers to drive sales and revenue growth.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our consumer and business products and services, including consumer and real estate secured lending products.
  • Participate in community groups and events to build relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Utilize needs-based questioning to determine customer needs and build strong relationships.
  • Drive sales through service and knowledge, achieving or exceeding personal and team goals.
  • Recommend personal products, trusts, HSA's, IRA's, business products and services to match customer needs.
  • Participate in onsite visits to promote the Perks at Work Program & Merchant Services programs.
  • Proficiently profile and refer to our banking partners utilizing skills obtained through internal sales training courses.
  • Make sound decisions and conduct sales activities with confidence.
  • Participate in outbound teleconsulting to promote and expand current client relationships.
  • Drive personal sales and team sales, as well as assist with directives as assigned by Banking Center Manager.
  • May run a teller drawer as needed, accurately processing customer transactions, balancing, and safeguarding against fraud.
  • Participate in bank-sponsored community activities.
  • Train and mentor new hires on the banker system.
  • Timely completion of all assigned learning activities.
  • Achieve or exceed personal and team goals as set.
  • Actively participate in weekly huddles and one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • Serves as relief and/or backup PB in other locations of Midland States Bank.
  • Demonstrates and models Midland States Bank core values that support the bank's culture.
  • Effectively communicate with customers in both English and Spanish, ensuring clear and accurate responses.
  • Translate and interpret documents and messages as needed.
  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
  • May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Requirements
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Broad knowledge of bank systems, consumer loans and deposit accounts.
  • Cash handling and customer service background.
  • Proven sales experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • This position requires National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration under the terms of the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008.
