Job Summary

SGF Global is a leading provider of recruitment solutions, and we are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This is a 24-month contract position, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent role.

This role will be based in Waterloo, IA, and will involve working on-site at a machinery manufacturing company. The successful candidate will have experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on turning, milling, drilling, and gear cutting processes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and be able to apply their knowledge to improve efficiency, quality, and safety. They will also have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, and quality plans for new and revised operations
  • Providing support and troubleshooting for current operations, including investigating and implementing solutions
  • Innovating and implementing cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement ideas
  • Applying electronic tools, including e-builds, modeling, and simulations
  • Developing and implementing plans to support lean manufacturing and the Company Production System
  • Leading team studies related to capacity, energy, productivity, and efficiency
  • Analyzing and implementing new manufacturing processes and technology

Requirements include:

  • Three or more years' experience as a manufacturing engineer in a component manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience with the selection and procurement of capital equipment
  • Experience with machine programming related to gear and spline cutting processes
  • Experience in roles that required a working knowledge of turning, milling, drilling, and hard finishing of ferrous materials
  • Experience applying gear and shaft manufacturing tools and technology
  • Experience in shop floor process adjustments necessary to correct geometry and quality problems
  • Experience with interpreting part prints and GD&T designations
  • Experience with the use of AutoCAD or related software
  • Experience with leading and supporting cross-functional teams for projects of moderate scope
  • Experience using Power BI, Tableau, or other data analysis tools
  • Experience in using SAP
  • Bachelor's degree in Ag Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical degree
