POSITION SUMMARY


The Culinary Operations Leader plays a vital role in our community by executing the culinary offerings, ensuring exceptional performance and satisfaction for residents and visitors alike.

The primary focus is on the visual appeal of dishes, the quality of food, and the overall dining experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Embraces the mission, vision, and objectives of the organization, promoting and upholding the company culture.
Adheres to established Standards of Service and assists in ensuring compliance among all kitchen personnel.

Assists in overseeing daily kitchen operations, coordinating food production schedules, and guaranteeing the highest standards of food quality, flavor, and presentation.

Engages in food preparation, consistently producing high-quality dishes and expediting service during peak times as necessary.

Helps manage food costs by training kitchen staff on proper food preparation techniques and safe handling of leftovers.

Ensures all kitchen staff adhere to uniform, grooming, and appearance standards.

Collaborates with the Director of Culinary Services to set kitchen goals, proactively addressing issues related to all aspects of kitchen operations.

Establishes and enforces compliance with health department regulations and food safety protocols in conjunction with the Director of Culinary Services, develops menus, and creates and maintains adherence to recipes and product specifications.

Trains kitchen staff on new menu items.

Maintains effective communication within the kitchen and dining areas, being responsive to staff feedback and working to resolve any issues.

Fosters positive working relationships with staff and other departments.
Assists in managing food orders based on anticipated business levels.
Conducts regular inspections of the kitchen, dishwashing areas, and storage facilities, promptly addressing any deficiencies identified during inspections.
Maintains required sanitation and temperature logs as mandated by state regulations.
Participates in mandatory meetings and training sessions.

Engages in ongoing training through the designated Learning Management System (LMS) to stay current with industry standards.

Performs additional duties as assigned that contribute to the success of the community and the well-being of our residents.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

A high school diploma or equivalent.
Three years of experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred.
Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to engage positively and effectively with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other staff.
A genuine interest in and a positive attitude towards working with long-term care residents and the elderly.
Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn company applications.
Must pass a Criminal Background and fingerprint check.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Ability to creatively problem-solve in resident care situations.
Must meet all mandatory health requirements as per state regulations.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must maintain a current Food Handlers Card and obtain Serv Safe Certification shortly after hiring.
Strong command of the English language sufficient for reading, writing, and interpreting administrative information.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Walk/Stand – must be able to continuously walk and stand.
Environment Condition – must be able to perform work both indoors and outdoors.
Sit – infrequent sitting required.
Lift - frequently lift between 11 – 50 pounds.
Carry - frequently carry between 11 – 50 pounds.
Push - frequently push between 11 – 50 pounds.
Climb – must be able to climb stairs frequently, with the option to use an elevator if available.

Bend – must be able to bend at the waist, knees, hips, and spine frequently; may require lifting weights of 25 pounds or more.

Squat – must be able to squat frequently to reach below the knee, may require lifting of 50 pounds or less.

Twist or rotate – must be able to twist or rotate occasionally at the trunk, hips, knees, and neck, manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.

Reach– must be able to reach frequently.

May occasionally reach overhead, manipulating weights of 10 pounds or less, and below waist manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.

Sensory Vision – must be able to read clearly with or without corrective lenses.
Hear - Must be able to hear telephone and audible alarms.
Must be able to taste and smell.
Speech/Language – must have a strong command of English sufficient to read, write, and interpret administrative information.
