Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer III to join our team at the County of Santa Clara CA. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of cardiac sonography procedures, ensuring proper functioning of sonography equipment, and assisting physicians in related procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform cardiac sonography procedures, including transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), and bubble studies
  • Assist physicians with the performance of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) procedures
  • Consult with referring physicians regarding patient medical history to determine the type of ultrasonic procedure required
  • Select and operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment, observing sound wave patterns and producing diagnostic images
  • Prepare, instruct, and position patients for ultrasound procedures
  • Document observations made during procedures for final interpretation by cardiologists or other qualified medical professionals
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Cardiac Sonography program
  • Five (5) years of full-time experience performing cardiac sonography procedures
  • Possession and maintenance of one of the following certifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or any Echocardiography-related certification issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) and picture archive communication systems (PACS)
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular principles, vascular physical principles, and principles of ultrasound physics
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision
