The Senior Mechanical Plant Engineer plays a crucial role in defining, organizing, planning, and executing small capital investment projects, ensuring they are cost-effective, timely, and safely utilize advanced engineering concepts. This position requires adherence to established engineering practices, regulations, cGMP, and Evonik Corporation's policies and standards. The incumbent will provide technical expertise to enhance and maintain assigned areas, focusing on cost minimization and ensuring safe, high-quality operations. The Senior Mechanical Plant Engineer will oversee small to medium-sized capital projects and may contribute to new product estimates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Support daily maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement solutions for process enhancements to boost efficiency, reliability, and safety within the facility.
  • Project Management: Oversee small capital and technical change projects from inception to completion, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordination with stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, participating in audits and inspections as necessary.
  • Training and Development: Mentor junior engineering staff to foster their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain engineering specifications, standards, and equipment work instructions to improve equipment uptime and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, process engineering, and maintenance, to resolve engineering issues and achieve operational objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in plant engineering or a related role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the Chemical or Pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • Proficient in project management tools and techniques, with a proven track record of managing engineering projects successfully.
  • Ability to manage budgets of $2.5M-$3M annually.
  • Familiarity with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards and procedures.
