Job Summary

Ryder System is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Technician to join our team. As a key member of our mobile maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with heavy-duty vehicles
  • Conduct preventive maintenance checks to ensure vehicles are in good working condition
  • Interact with customers to facilitate preventative maintenance, repair issue resolution, and discuss new repair estimates
  • Coordinate work schedules as required by customers
  • Perform road tests to identify cause of complaints for repairs and ensure quality of repair work performed
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational or Technical Certification in related field preferred
  • Two (2) years or more experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment
  • Must have minimum tools required to perform job duties as outlined in Ryder's Maintenance policy 2.02
  • Pass a Ryder drug test and previous employer's for the past 3 years, DOT physical, Ryder road test, pass a Ryder Background check and Motor vehicle check including Drug and Alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Preferred Qualifications
  • Able to take home assigned mobile service truck as applicable and secure vehicle and contents preferred
  • Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles
  • Ability to understand and adhere to Company policies in all areas
  • Proven hands-on mechanic, customer service, and account management skills
  • Ability to complete repair orders with the Company established systems
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)
Working Conditions

This is a safety-sensitive position. The incumbent is required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with Ryder's PPE policy.

The incumbent is required to pass a Ryder drug test and previous employer's for the past 3 years, DOT physical, Ryder road test, pass a Ryder Background check and Motor vehicle check including Drug and Alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.

The incumbent is required to be able to drive Ryder vehicles.

The incumbent is required to be able to take home assigned mobile service truck as applicable and secure vehicle and contents preferred.
