Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician Mechanic to join our team at Ryder in Savage, MD. As a Diesel Technician Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electronic problems, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our heavy-duty vehicles.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance and diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electronic problems.
  • Inspect and repair or replace defective components as needed.
  • Perform facility maintenance duties, including cleaning and organizing the shop and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of their complaints and provide solutions.
  • Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available.
  • Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines, including safety and DOT regulations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred.
  • Basic tools required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance.
  • Two years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred.
