Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer Associate

This is a remote position that offers the opportunity to work with a leading consulting and design engineering firm. DLB Associates is seeking an entry-level plumbing and fire protection engineer to join their team.

Job Summary

The Fire Protection / Plumbing Engineer Associate will work with senior design staff to advance their plumbing and fire protection design skills for commercial building design and construction. They will learn, through hands-on application, how to design a wide variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the production of fire protection and plumbing engineering documents (60%)
  • Assist in pre-construction activities (15%)
  • Assist in construction activities (15%)
  • Reporting (10%)
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or fire protection engineering, with a sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals
  • Knowledge of mechanical, fire protection, and plumbing system principles
  • Knowledge of code and specifications for mechanical, fire protection, and plumbing systems
  • Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management
  • Ability to work successfully in a remote environment through effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness, and resourcefulness in a distraction-free workspace
  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements
  • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports, and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
