Materials Management Specialist

As a Materials Management Specialist at VHC Health, you will be responsible for overseeing the procurement, storage, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Train, coach, and mentor OR Material Handlers to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
• Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement productivity standards that monitor individual and departmental performance.
• Analyze and forecast yearly expenses, participating in the budgeting process to ensure the department stays within budget.
• Create and maintain a work schedule for OR Material Handlers that meets hospital requirements and delivers services without exceeding the departmental budget.
• Maintain a safe and organized storeroom environment, ensuring all staff are properly trained in lifting methods and that stock is rotated correctly to prevent expired products from being issued.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred.
• Three years of materials management experience required; one year of supervisory experience preferred.
Working Conditions:
• Works in a well-lighted and ventilated office setting, subject to frequent interruptions.
• Willing to work beyond normal working hours when requested to do so.
• Minimal occupational exposure to infectious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous chemicals, noxious odors, latex, or musculoskeletal injuries.
Physical Requirements:
• Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching, standing, walking, pushing/pulling, lifting, repetitive motions, finger dexterity, talking, and visual acuity are required for this role.
