Position Summary

The primary objective of this role is to ensure the vitality, aesthetics, and optimal water usage of our clients' outdoor spaces by installing, maintaining, enhancing, and repairing irrigation systems and water features. This position also involves utilizing irrigation knowledge, effective communication skills, and overall landscaping expertise to provide system improvement suggestions to clients and account managers. Technicians engaged during the winter months, when irrigation systems are dormant, are essential for snow removal, ice management, and other fieldwork aligned with their skills and training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain irrigation systems, including pipes, valves, controllers, sensors, and related components.
  • Ensure systems operate effectively to distribute water efficiently, performing proper winterization and spring startups.
  • Conduct routine inspections to detect irrigation system leaks, clogs, and other issues, addressing and resolving them promptly to prevent plant damage and water waste.
  • Operate and calibrate irrigation controllers to maintain accurate watering schedules based on seasonal variations and weather conditions.
  • Engage professionally with clients to address their irrigation needs, respond to inquiries, provide guidance on proper watering, and recommend system enhancements.
  • Educate clients and team members on irrigation best practices, water-efficient technologies, and proper system management.
  • Maintain precise electronic records of work performed, including irrigation system layouts, controller schedules, inspections/adjustments, maintenance schedules, and repairs.
  • Oversee water feature startups, water quality management, cleaning, repairs, and winterization.
  • Ensure a safe and organized job site, reporting potential hazards to the Supervisor.
  • Participate in various landscape installation, maintenance, or snow duties when irrigation work hours decrease, potentially leading a crew if qualified.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and execute work orders and plans.
  • Capacity to work up to 10 hours in varying weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from highs of 100°F to lows of 20°F.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs safely independently.
  • Proficient in the safe use of irrigation-specific tools, equipment, and technologies.
  • Strong understanding of irrigation system components, design principles, and installation methods.
  • Willingness to learn cloud-based mobile applications.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Irrigation Technician or equivalent landscape experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the proper operation of irrigation equipment.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States; participation in E-Verify is required.
