Role Summary

The Quality Control Inspector plays a crucial role in supporting production operations by ensuring adherence to quality standards. This position is responsible for the safe production of high-quality food products, compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, and the identification and reporting of any deviations from established standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct necessary quality assessments for various cheese products, including checks for metal detection, leaks, weights, and other analytical evaluations to ensure compliance with product specifications.
  • In instances of non-compliance, perform rechecks to validate the findings.
  • Assist in implementing hold procedures for any products that do not meet quality standards during packaging.
  • Collect samples from production lines according to the sampling plan for microbiological, chemical, sensory, shelf-life, and pathogen testing.
  • Execute screen sort checks as outlined in the sorting procedures and appropriately tag products requiring further action to achieve compliance. Notify relevant personnel of significant defects or recurring issues promptly.
  • Accurately document all quality checks and corrective actions taken for any non-conforming results in a timely manner.
  • Engage in additional tasks such as air sampling, hand swabbing, and maintaining the shelf-life library.
  • Support audit processes and sensory evaluations.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • Education: High School Diploma preferred; an associate degree is advantageous.
  • Experience: Background in food manufacturing and USDA regulations is preferred.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Proficiency in analyzing, reading, and drafting reports, manuals, and procedures.
  • Skills / Abilities: Strong data entry and problem-solving skills, policy enforcement capabilities, basic math skills for calculations, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
